Our ethos

Organic growing

For over 40 years, Claude Mandois has tended his vineyards with passion and meticulous care. Today, his quest for authenticity has enabled our Champagne House to boast one of the region’s largest certified organic vineyards, a living testament to the exceptional quality of our terroir.

Respecting the terroir to reveal its essence

Guided by a forward-thinking vision, Claude Mandois adopted eco-friendly viticulture in the early 2000s, carefully nurturing the terroir to reveal its true essence in our wines.

Green cover crops, mechanical tillage, organic treatments, natural fertilisers… each method is carefully tested in the Clos Mandois vineyard. These real-life trials have a single objective: to determine the most appropriate approach for each plot and ensure a smooth transition to organic certification (the AB label in France).

For Champagne Mandois, it was only natural to adopt eco-friendly viticulture…

A long-term vision rewarded

In 2020, thanks to these bold experiments, our Champagne House obtained organic certification (the AB label in France) for most of the vineyards lying closest to Pierry in the Côte des Blancs and Coteaux Sud d’Epernay.

Our Champagne House now boasts one of the largest certified organic vineyards in the Champagne region.

A dialogue between man and nature

Under the direction of Claude Mandois, our team works tirelessly in the vineyards, following an approach that places the living world at the centre of everything we do. The results are already visible: the soils are gradually regaining their vitality, and our growing understanding of the vines and their behaviour is allowing us to fine-tune each intervention in the vineyards with greater precision.

With constant care and dedication, Claude Mandois ensures that our grapes thrive and express their full potential.

An increasingly natural approach to viticulture

In our constant quest for perfection, we integrate selected biodynamic principles into our vineyard work, including respect for the lunar calendar and the use of herbal and silica preparations.

This results in an even more balanced ecosystem while strengthening the natural immunity of the vines…
