Our Vineyards - Champagne Mandois

A Champagne House with a strong winegrowing identity

Our Vineyards

Our winegrowing identity is rooted here, where the Vallée de la Marne meets the Côte des Blancs. Our vineyards, most of which are organically grown, cover 37 hectares of verdant hillsides overlooked by forests.

“I know these lands, where my vines were born and thrive, like the back of my hand.” Claude Mandois

A diversity of terroirs

Over the years, our family has carefully built up our vineyards. Each generation has played a role in their steady expansion, guided by a single purpose: to select the finest terroirs to craft wines of elegance and character that remain true to their origins. Continuing this long and painstaking process, Claude Mandois has expanded the vineyards from 30 to 37 hectares.

Our vineyards, which provide 70% of our grape supply, guarantee our independence, but they also offer something equally precious: an exceptional diversity of terroirs. Each grape tells the true story of its origin, whether from the Côte des Blancs, the Coteaux Sud d’Épernay, the Sézannais or the Côte des Bars.

Every great wine begins in the vineyard, and the Champagne Mandois vineyards embody this truth.

Bespoke plantings

For many years, each of our vineyard plots has been planted with the grape variety best suited to its unique characteristics.

The Chardonnay grape is planted on the majority of our terroirs where it expresses its essence with remarkable finesse, especially on the superb slopes of the Côte des Blancs. Meunier, which accounts for 20% of our vines, derives its distinctive personality from the rich soils of Pierry. Pinot Noir, planted in 10% of our vineyards, subtly completes this elegant aromatic triptych.

The quest for excellence, plot by plot

A perceptive winemaker, Claude Mandois knows that crafting a fine wine begins with respectful viticulture and carefully ripened grapes. Drawing on his deep knowledge of the terroirs, he patiently waits for each vine to bring its fruit to perfect maturity according to its potential.

In the weeks leading up to harvest, Claude visits each of our vineyards, tasting the grapes to determine the ideal time to begin harvesting. With the same exacting standards and a certain degree of pleasure, he also visits the Pinot Noir and Meunier plots belonging to our winegrowing partners, whose grapes are used to complement some of our blends.
